SMALL LIVES GLOBAL TIES

This was one of my earliest journeys into heritage work, commissioned by Tamasha Theatre after artistic director Kristine Landon-Smith noticed my quiet fascination with photography. These were humble beginnings—where every small commission was a significant step towards honing my craft and discovering my creative voice. With nothing more than the Sony Ericsson Live 0.3 mega pixel, I captured these simple yet nostalgic images of everyday life within my British Vietnamese home; familiar objects that spoke of resourcefulness, togetherness, and the quiet resilience woven through Vietnamese culture.

Commissioned by Tamasha Theatre, 2011

The ground is fertile, we will grow new things

Our roots are deep, our properties hidden

We will take it and do it our own way

We were once outside now we are in

Our cultures will sing together

Wash off yesterdays whispers

I will find my way

Our view is framed with possibilities

We make our own fences

The taste of home

Sewing our future together
