I am versatile in my vocal ability; throughout my career I have engaged with a myriad of projects involving the 'voice' including radio, presenting, voice overs or narration.

In 2017 I came across a wonderful technique called headphone verbatim:

"an immediate, nimble and authentic tool for a fast and agile response allowing for every idiosyncratic detail of the speaker to be captured by the performer. The result - a series of poignant, unpredictable, tender, funny and honest testimonies" Headphone verbatim practitioner

Kristine Landon-Smith

Since then I have been involved in this area of performance; delivering workshops and as a headphone verbatim artist.

As a British Vietnamese Producer a lot of my work has been coloured by this. I am what they would call a 'Viet Kieu' and this simply means a 'Vietnamese living abroad'. Follow me as I travel back to Vietnam to explore these big questions around the 'Viet Kieu' identity and at the same time uncover a vibrant and thriving contemporary art scene in Hanoi and Saigon; meeting some of Vietnam's emerging and leading artists, both locally and 'abroad'.

Summer Rolls by Tuyen Do

[ July 2019 Part 90 & Bristol Old Vic ]

Mai is impulsive, intelligent, independent and growing up fast. As well as realising from a young age that her family are nursing deep wounds and secrets, she also has to navigate her dual identity as a second generation immigrant.

Having escaped war-torn Vietnam, her family’s individual journeys and memories have left scars that Mai was too young to understand. Embracing their silence, Mai’s camera becomes a conduit through which her journey of discovery begins.

Mai Nguyen - Anna Nguyen (nominated - off Westend award for best female actress 2019)
